Obituary of Linda Eileen Bragdon Litchfield

Linda Eileen Bragdon Litchfield, 60, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday June 28th 2012 at her home in Palm Harbor, FL, following a long illness. She bravely fought her illnesses with dignity and pride. Linda was born November 5th 1951 in York, ME, the second daughter to Patricia Morrison Bragdon and Robert G. Bragdon of Wells, ME. Linda attended Wells High School, where she excelled in music, sports, and academics. She loved staying in touch with her high school friends and attending reunions. On September 11th, 1970 Linda married John Gardner Litchfield of Wells, ME, enjoying a wonderful 42 year marriage. They moved to West Poland, ME in 1976. Linda was a talented knitter, and owned a successful business with her sweaters gracing department store windows on 5th Ave in NYC. In 1987 Linda began a career as a Manager at Stephen's Memorial Hospital. During this time, she was also a Rape Crisis Counselor and aided many in need. In 2002 Linda and John moved to Palm Harbor, FL to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. Linda joined St. Joseph's Hospital where she was a cherished Manager, mentor and friend to all who knew her. Linda was an extremely active and energetic woman, who loved her family and friends with all of her heart. She had a thirst for knowledge and a zest for life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, entertaining at robust family gatherings and holidays and spending time with family. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Robert G Bragdon in 1970, and Patricia Bragdon McQuinn on June 13th 2012. Linda is survived by her devoted and cherished husband, John G. Litchfield of Palm Harbor, FL, her two loving daughters, Alison L. LeRoy of Fort Carson, Co, and Erica J. Litchfield of Riverview, FL. Her loving siblings are Martha B. Connolly of Poland, ME, Rebecca A. Wright of Scarborough, ME, Robert G. Bragdon of Wells, ME and Charles M. Bragdon of Wells, ME; a son in law, Kevin LeRoy and two grandsons Mitchell and Derek LeRoy, all of Fort Carson, CO. Linda also has many nieces, nephews and cousins in Maine who will miss her dearly. Linda was the heart of our family, and will be deeply missed. There are no calling hours. An open house to celebrate Linda's life will be held Tuesday July 3rd, 2012 from 3pm-6pm at 1000 Wexford Leas Blvd, Palm Harbor, FL 34683. Please come and share a story, a laugh and a tear as we remember this remarkable woman. Services in Maine will be held at a later date. Linda's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her doctors and home care givers for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
