Joe Flowers was a very special guy who loved everything that he did . As well as helpings others when he could . I remember many of times when we were younger goofing off with his Mustangs and Mach 1 car that was his baby back then until he had real children . He was a very skilled carpenter and craftsman in his field of work . He will be sadly missed by his family and friends who knew him . He touched the lives of many of people in his short but long lived life that he had . I am sure that in Heaven he is helping rebuild the Pearly Gates right now with his golden hammer . He was a true friend to me and I will always miss him . He took after his daddy , Joe SR. They were two peas in a pod . May God be with you both and all of our other family members up there in Heaven . I just got the news 08/02/10 @ 8:00 PM . RIP Joe - I will always miss you !
Your Cousin Chuck Jones

Joe was the kind of guy that loved to have fun and lived for the moment, he tried his best to make sure everyone around was ok and that they was also having a good time. He loved fishing, four wheeling (and got me hooked too),camping, Gator football, nascar, and the most of all his family, Christine, Joey, Kelly , Jessie, and of all of us that would let him. I will always remember joe for his in your face and never let you be kind of attitude, he wasn't trying to be mean or rude but that was the way he showed he cared, "take it or leave it", like he would say. Joe was one of a kind and he will be deeply missed and not forgotten, but I bet the people at the Whammer house (one of many joe-isms waffle house) will rest a little easier knowing he won't be harrasing them anymore....Miss Ya Big Guy. I first met Cuz back in the 70's when I was in the family thru marriage to his cousin Ike, Joey & Deb became fast loving friends and family with so many 7 Palms events where we all stayed most weekends- camping /fishing trips and family together outings making lasting memories. He helped teach me & Sheila along with Ike & Debs father Jim how to water ski.One time Cuz, Ike & myself were out in the wooden flat boat in the bay fishing(behind the island Joe & his Aunt Mary Gleason lived) one evening a storm popped in,Ike was trying to steer into a cove for protection,Joe & I were sitting huddled together trying to keep warm from the pelting rain,a huge shrimp suddenly jumped into the boat - landing in my lap,I screamed with my last breath, thinking I was a goner- cause it scared the crap out of me & Joe ! for a sec, when we realized what it was.. he nearly fell of the boat out ..as I did laughing so hard !! Everyone remembers how proud when his first baby Jessie arrived! his grinning smile every time he would look at her. We all know how he loved with his big heart. The last time I saw Joe he was again a proud father -of his baby boy.. I thought he was going to pull my hand off to get me in the house - to see his little man ! Im sorry his time was up but he is in a better place waitng for those yet to be reunited. Cuzette Nannette

I have so many memories of times from back on the farm in Jackson, Oh, when I would visit the farm and he was little "Joey"!
Later when he moved to Florida and we would vacation here, Joey was growing into manhood learning a driven work ethic from his father, and a keen sense of understanding that life could be short, so make sure to take time to enjoy it while you can. Joe loved to fish, boat, swim, picnic, & always make a party out any event.
As these pictures show, he had an infectiious smile starting at a young age, he never lost that smile... even as we vistited him during his last days here, he would look at us, smile and give us one more.... "Yup!", when we asked if he wanted to "party".
Through the years even though I married into the family, Joe always accepted me as if I were blood, I pray that God will one day allow me to hear him say "what's goin' on, Cuz"!
Darla & I and all my family will miss you, see you soon Cuz.

Joe is my little brother and I loved him dearly. When Joe was two, our mother contracted Polio and was confined to a wheelchair for life. As a small child he learned to grow up fast and be self sufficient. Joe's earlier years were growing up on a farm in Jackson, Ohio where at a young age he would sit in the tractor seat and at a snails pace steer through the hay field so that the hay bales could be gathered from the fields, no matter that he could not reach the pedals to stop or make the tractor go faster. As Joe grew older he learned to drive the tractor faster, as he grew into the pedals and he pitched many a hay bale by the time he was ten years old. During this time he also learned to hunt and fish, raise cattle, hogs, chickens and grow and process tobacco for market.
Joe has always been a bit of a dare devil and for fun Joe would race his bicycle down the hill of the gravel road near his farm house and spin out in the gravel at the bottom, he would slide down the side of dirt hills on a cardboard box and he would use tire tubes to go faster down the hillside when it snowed. Of course he enjoyed it more when he was being slung around behind the tractor. Joe really had fun riding his horse Brownie, he always wanted to race me and of course he always won. But he hated the fact that I could do a Roy Rogers mount on the back of my horse and his was to wild to attempt such a feat. If you ever wondered what Joe looked like as a kid, acted like as a kid, just look at his son…..
In 1967 Joe was transplanted to Florida with his mother and I where he lived till his teenage years then on to live with his father who also was residing in the Bay Area. When Joe was 16 he was broadsided by a car while riding home on his motorcycle. Although we almost lost him; God saw it fit to give us many more years of joy.
Although Joe and I did not run in the same circles for some periods in our life we were always there for each other when needed. We enjoyed arguing over NASCAR races, we agreed on country music and attended a concert or two together. My grandson and I enjoyed campground visits when Joe and family visited the KOA.
Many knew Joe was a carpenter or a woodworker and spent a lot of time away from home traveling to many areas of the United States to work including "the happiest place on earth". Joe did not like being away from home but his hard work supported all of his family, and no matter what, his family meant the world to him. Joe was not just a woodworker he was a World Class Architectural Woodworker for Akira Wood with many showcase projects around the United States including the Bay Area. Joe was proud of the work he did, but he was even prouder of the friends he made along the way and the new craftsman he trained to develop and perfect their skills. Joe also enjoyed doing things with his family; fishing, boating, camping, four wheeling, partying, dancing and music.
Everyone who knew Joe: knew he was honest, kind, giving, always offered a helping hand and never
said a bad word about anyone. Joe had a tender side: he loved his family and friends no matter what,
and many of you may not know but his favorite flowers were Orchids.
God must have needed a great carpenter in heaven when he called Joe home… But I sure hope
God's ready for Saturday Gator Games and Sunday NASCAR, cause he's going to get his fill! Joe is one
of a kind, he is truly loved, will be truly missed and will live with in our hearts forever. I Love ya Joe.

I have know Joe for over 25 years and have worked with him on many projects. He most recently helped me complete the final touches on the Tampa Museum Of Art and as usual he did a great job. His attitude was always upbeat and his work ethic was outstanding. The world has lost a great person, master carpenter and Gator Fan! We talked often of the Gators, fishing and his family. I will miss Joe terribly and so will the rest of his construction family. I would say there's another pretty good carpenter in heaven now. My heart, thoughts and sympathy go out to his family. See you in heaven Gator Dude. Rick Lee

Joe was my brother in law and friend. He always knew how to have a great time and I always wanted to be around him. I am so blessed to have had Joe in my life. He gave my sister Chris many years of happiness and the two of them brought the most special, wonderful little man into this world, Joey. I will never forget Joe as long as I live. I loved hanging out at his house with my sister and our friends, camping at the KOA, going on the boat and him driving it so fast on Lake Seminole that I was screaming and laughing like crazy. He taught me about Nascar, wood working, and some pretty crazy dance moves. Through the years we have cried, fought, laughed, joked, sang, and had the best times as a family. Through it all, he remained devoted to his family- the one he was born into, the one he made with my sister, and the one he married into and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I love you Joe and my heart is truly broken because my family and friend is no longer here. With love, respect, and honor- I will always love and remember you!
