Obituary of John R Burkes

John R. (Randy) Burkes, age 73, of Evansville, IN and Seminole, FL passed away on February 21, 2024. Randy went peacefully in his sleep next to his loving wife, Janet. He was born in Evansville, IN on July 3, 1950 to the late John W. And Wilma T. Burkes

Randy graduated from Harrison High School in 1968. He was a charter member of Christ UCC where he was a Boy Scout and received his God and Country Award. He was a long time member of Riverbend and EAC. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved all sports and was very athletic in his younger years. Randy worked over 50 years as a sheet metal worker with Local 20. His last position was as Field Superintendent at Midwest Roofing and Sheet Metal. After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a Floridian. He loved the Tampa Bay Area for its beauty and sporting events.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roger Burkes, and granddaughter, Brooklyn Springston.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet (Covey) Burkes, aunts, June Knight and Marlowe Meyers, brother, Robin Burkes (Marsha), sister-in-law, Donna Burkes, brothers-in-law, Rick Covey (Patty) and Gary Covey (Tricia), daughters, Cindy Eastwood (Tom Cummings), Sandy and Wendy Burkes and Heather Osborne (Chris), sons Kevin and Nathan Reis, grandchildren Justin and Nicholas Baxter, Taylor Smith, Dylan Springston, Zander Burkes, John Josey, Kimberly Jackson, Jared, Amber, Morgan, Joshua and Hannah Osborne, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and close friends.
