Obituary of Nathan Kendall

Nathan Gerald Kendall of Palm Harbor, Florida left this world on October 30, 2023. Born on November 30, 1989, in Tacoma, WA.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

Cousins hold your favorite childhood memories; they are your first best friend. Family dinners. Holidays. Rites of passage. Through and through you embarked on life’s progression with a partner by your side. You do not know it when you are young, but you soon learn that you cultivated a friend for life. Nathan was that to us and a friend to many. Nathan was the ideal son, grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle, and brother. He valued family and made sure you knew he valued you. He was loyal and communicative. Kind and loving. He was also the first one to call and laugh at us in Maine dealing with our first few inches of snow, since he had moved to Florida in 2006. He was sure to tell you that you had poor taste in vehicles if you chose a Ford of any kind. And if you were not enjoying a Bud Light or Coors after a hard day’s work, he was sure to tell you he was, and you were “slacking”. Only Nate could share the very politically incorrect Facebook memes and have people of all ages and backgrounds “liking” and commenting. He was the one that said what the rest of us were thinking. He was real. He was himself. The phrase “only the good die young” was once just a song. But now it is a burning realization that some are called to the lord far sooner than can be understood.

There is no bond like that of a mother and a son, and that was certainly the case with Nate and his mother Lyn. They were a part of each other’s daily lives and shared a bond that was deep. Nate leaned on his mother as a friend and steady stream of support. The space that is left for his mother to fill with his passing will be far too vast.

Nate enjoyed his annual men’s hunting week “Upta” camp in Maine with his grandfather and friends. Year after year they told us they spent it hunting, but we never saw the fruits of their labor. What happens at camp stays at camp. We guess that is what they say!

Nate was blessed with a close-knit community in Florida. During his free time, he enjoyed boating to nearby islands, backyard BBQs and bonfires, watching football, and having regular gatherings with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother Carolyn Connell and husband Robert Connell, his grandparents Harvey and Renette Couture; his brother Nicholas Kendall and partner Melissa; his aunt Caryn Couture; his cousins Erica Goss and Ashley McEachern; his nieces Mattison and Prim; his father Michael Kendall; his aunt Rebecca Torrence & aunt Debbie Kendall; his Uncle Kevin and wife Celeste and many other loved family and friends.

He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Don and Jae Kendall, his cousin Damien Kendall, and his nephew Sawyer Kendall.

There will be a gathering in Florida, date to be determined. As well as a date to follow sometime next summer for a gathering in Maine.
