Obituary of Charles Harbold Jr.

Charles Henry Harbold, Jr. a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Pinellas County, passed away on October 27, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Charlie, as he was known to everyone, was born February 7, 1943, to Charles, Sr., and Mary (Geiger)Harbold and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after moving to Florida to live with his uncle “Jake”. As a Sargent First Class for the Army, Charlie saw action in Vietnam.

The U.S. Army recognized Charlie for his honorable service with multiple Purple Hearts, specifically for his heroic actions and wounds received during his three tours in Vietnam. Charlie didn't speak much about these tours or about his time in the Army, but he was active in the VFW, American Legion and AmVets.

After he retired from the U.S. Army, Charlie returned home to his family and built a successful business in commercial printing where he again retired in 2018 turning the business over to his wife, Tela Harbold.

Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter, Michaela Harbold, his parents Charles Sr. and Mary Geiger Harbold and his sister, Darlene Wolfe. He's survived by his wife Tela Harbold, daughters and stepdaughter Monica Downes, Melinda Dollar, Martina Harbold and Aaron Breunig; son and stepson Landon Breunig and Stephen King; 9 grandchildren, Chelsea Surh, Paul Dollar, Mariah Dollar, Sommer Downes, Luke Downes, Seth Downes, Leah Downes, Aydon Breunig, Koa Neswick and Reilly Ormes and 8 great-grandchildren.

His family has organized a memorial service to honor Charlie's life and military service, which will be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery on November 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at VFW Post 9272 located at 10997 72nd Ave. N. in Seminole.
