Obituary of Lenore Atkinson

Lenore Atkinson, 81 years old,  “Pat” to her friends, of Seminole Florida, passed away on October 24, 2023, with family at the Pinellas County Hospice Center.

Born in Plum City, Wisconsin, to Hazel (Smith) and Benjamin Perkins, Pat was raised in southern Wisconsin, graduating from high school in Evansville. Pat had three sisters, one brother, and eventually, three step sisters

She married Richard “Delmar” Atkinson, raised a family and spent years as a farm wife, milking cows, raising an industrial sized garden, canning and freezing vegetables every winter and keeping the farm house warm with fresh baked breads and pastries. After her children were in school and the decision was made to sell the dairy cows, her baking hobby extended to cakes and cake decorating.  Her cakes began to catch on and she even taught cake decorating for a time.  Pat eventually turned her hobby into a job, working for, and then owning a bakery.

She cared extensively for both of her in laws before they passed.

She spent forty years active in the Albany, Wisconsin United Methodist Church before moving to Florida in 2001 to care for her elderly mother. She stayed in Florida, establishing friendships and enjoying her new home. She began serving as a Governor and then President of the Twin Oaks Condo Association for years.

She is survived by her siblings Lois Christian, Lenice (Jack) Covert, and Arthur (Debra) Perkins, children Benjamin (Sherry) Atkinson, Sceone (Jack) Gard, Karen Atkinson, and many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Perkins, mother, Hazel (Smith) Green, sister Carolyn Perkins and stepsisters Donna Disch, Ethelyn (Green) Runge, and Joanne (Green) Wingler.

She will be missed by all, especially her constant companion, her cat Luna.
