Obituary of Janice Mae Maggard

Janice Mae Maggard, 73, passed away peacefully August 20, 2023 in her home.  Janice was born in Big Stone Gap Virginia, lived many years in Boston, Ma before coming to Florida in the eighties. Janice was predeceased by her parents Gladys (Garrett) and Ernest Maggard. She leaves behind her beloved sister Tina Gilley, her sister Nancy Anderson, her brother Carlos (Rhonda), several nieces and nephews as well as numerous close friends.

Janice led a very full life with uniquely diverse careers as a certified nurses aid, a certified diesel mechanic, and a certified addictions counselor. Janice loved helping people and had a great love of animals, particularly cats. Janice had a long history of volunteer work wherever she lived. She was a cofounder of Sisterhood meetings in Boston and a volunteer at Silverthreads Florida as well as sitting on a couple of boards and conducting/facilitating workshops.

Janice never had a clue how wonderful she was as she wandered around making the world a better place and the people around her with smiles on their faces. She will be incredibly missed.

There will be a Celebration of Janice’s Life on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. on the public St Pete beach. There is a public parking lot for the beach to the left of the Dolphin Beach Resort.
