Herschel Dollar-Crouse

Obituary of Herschel Allen Dollar-Crouse

Herschel Allen Crouse, Jr, preferred to go by Allen, was born in Danville, Indiana on March 2, 1971, to Herschel Allen and Sherry Carlile-Gray (Crouse). He was raised in Indianapolis where he graduated from Decatur Central High School. Allen moved to St. Petersburg, Fl where he lost his battle with multiple illnesses on August 15, 2023. In Allen’s earlier years he had a great love for Jesus where he attended church and was baptized at the Church of the Nazarene. He had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir leading him later to sing for weddings including his families. He had a great love for electronics and worked in computer technology most of his career. He was fun loving and focused on what he could do to help others volunteering to serve meals at the holidays to the unfortunately homeless and in need. He would give his shirt off his back for others.

This man never met a stranger and was a “social butterfly” bringing joy to those who crossed his path. He was loved by many strangers in his life and had a great circle of friends who were there for him in his rough years and during his wonderful time of life.

After some unfortunate trials in his life, he focused on helping those in Narcotics Anonymous and went to speak at a variety of chapters in Jacksonville, FL, Tampa and St. Petersburg witnessing to others how they could change their lives for the better. He became a strong leader and was on the board of officers for this organization. He leaves behind his mother, Sherry Gray (Donald), father, Herschel Allen Crouse, Sr., sister, Kimberly Crouse-Roberson (Jeff), Nieces, Bethany Morgan Barnes (Derek), Andrea Michelle Ashby (Arthur), and Nephew Justin Hoyt Savage along with many great nieces and nephews. He is being cremated and plans for a personal family celebration of his life will occur at a later date.
