Obituary of Sally Sais Bruynell

Sally Sais Bruynell, 65, of Clearwater, FL, passed away December 8, 2020. She was born on August 17, 1955 in Tampa, Florida. Preceded in death by her father Thomas Julius Sais; mother, Vera Valentine Verdyck; and eldest son, Joshua Stephen Bruynell. Sally is survived by her brother, Thomas Sais; her sister, Terry Sais; her brother, Steve Sais; her son, Jacob Bruynell; her daughter, Jaime Bruynell; and many beloved nephews and nieces.

Sally graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1973. She was active in various clubs, a member of the baton-twirling Majorettes, and voted ‘Most Popular’ her senior year. Sally went on to study nursing at St. Petersburg Junior College, earning her Associates of Science in Nursing in 1978. Sally furthered her education at University of South Florida, earning her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1981. Sally spent almost three decades practicing nursing, with a focus in oncology. After surviving a neuroblastoma as a toddler, Sally felt like it was her calling tohelp patients with cancer.

Eventually the long-term effects of radiation from the neuroblastoma tumor limited her ability to work. Sally, as a single mother, focused on raising her three children, and also opened up her home to help raise her nephew Chad Sais, and niece Laura Sais. Sally gave back to her community and volunteered for the Juvenile Welfare Board and the local YMCA. Sally was a devoted Christian and a woman of God. Sally loved reading the bible, daily devotions, and participating in Bible Study. Sally enjoyed gardening, the beach, fishing, and water aerobics. Sally treasured time spent with family, friends, and her dogs. Sally was very independent, selfless, and outgoing. Even with her chronic illnesses, she was always so caring and put others before herself. Her kindness and joyfulness radiated towards everyone she came in contact with, and she could turn strangers into friends with a single conversation. Her resilient spirit and beautiful smile will be remembered by all who knew her.
