Letizia (Delia) Pensiero

Letizia (Delia) Pensiero, 82, of Clearwater passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home in Clearwater, FL.   Born on September 29, 1937 in Siracusa Sicily, Delia was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Salvatrice (Cassia) Cancellieri.  She immigrated to the United States at the age of nineteen in 1956 and settled in Connecticut.  She married her beloved husband Raffaele in 1958.  Together with their three children, they moved to Seminole, Florida in 1971. 

Delia was a very talented custom dressmaker and tailor.  She was a woman of grace and elegance who took pride in her work and home.  She loved dancing, sewing, crochet and knitting, and cooking for her family.  She was a woman of faith who regularly recited the rosary.  Sundays were filled with Italian music playing, sauce simmering on the stove, and enjoying time with her family and friends. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raffaele, her grandson Donny Walker, brother Paolo Cancellieri, and sister-in-law Frances Humphrey.  She is survived by her loving children Salvatore Pensiero of Clearwater, Claudia Pensiero Walker of Largo, and Ralph Pensiero Jr. of Clearwater, granddaughter Krysta Nymark with husband Justin of Seminole, grandson Justin Walker of St. Petersburg, and granddaughter Gina Walker Meyer of Pinellas Park, great-grandchildren Jamin, Owen, Emerson, Jared and Jesse, siblings Joseph Cancellieri and his wife Michelina of Newington CT, Salvatore Cancellieri and his wife Cathy of Plainville CT, Rita Vernali and her husband Domenick of Newington CT, and sister-in-law Camilla Cancellieri of Newington, CT, brother-in-law William Humphrey of Schenectady, NY, and brother-in-law Mario Pensiero and his wife Pia of Scotia NY, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who she loved dearly.

She was a beautiful, loving person who will be remembered by all that knew her.

Funeral services for Delia will be held Friday, January 31st at 12:00 pm at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd, Largo, FL 33774.  She will be laid to rest at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo.
